In 1980 the Lord called together a small group of lay people who desired to start a ministry without going into debt. Andre and Heather Wilson led the team, and after a lot of hard work and sacrifice, they built up a thriving vegan restaurant, Country Life Nashville, which served lunch to more than 200 people every day. The team also offered health programs and cooking classes, and in 1983, Heather started offering midwifery services and was soon delivering approximately 50 babies a year. She has trained several midwives for the mission field, as well.
In 1998 the Wilsons felt the need to slow down and refocus. They closed their boomingrestaurant, still with no debt, and opened a small health food co-op. After meeting and building relationships with hundreds of customers and clients, they have built a solid foundation for their continued health ministry. Heather still offers natural birthing services, and they hold many cooking classes and diabetes workshops, which serve as an entering wedge for the gospel.
Andre became a coordinator and educator for the Coronary Health Improvement Program (CHIP) in Nashville. He is able to follow Ellen White’s counsel to work together, as a medical missionary, with ministers and physicians. CHIP has become a blessing to the local church and the community.
The Wilsons are also certified life coaches, specializing in health and wellness.
Through CHIP, cooking classes, and one-on-one lifestyle counseling, they give people the tools to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. For Heather and Andre, the health ministries, coaching, and midwifery are tools that enable them to reach their goal of sharing Christ and the end-time message with all whom they encounter.
