Country Life Health Food Wholesale was founded in 1991, at a time when there was no other health food wholesale structure in the country.
Today it is well-known throughout the Czech Republic and supplies many shops, restaurants, food manufacturers, and large chain stores. Closely connected to the wholesale distribution are Country Life Prague’s farm and bakery. The farm produces certified organic rye, spelt, oats, barley, and buckwheat, as well as vegetables and fruits to be sold in the ministry’s health food stores and restaurants. The Country Life Wholegrain Bakery produces spelt and rye breads, among other bakery products, and it was the first bakery to introduce organic kamut bread to the Czech market.
The main C
ountry Life restaurant in downtown Prague serves 400 to 500 customers daily—most of them regulars. The restaurant facility also serves as a venue for weekly cooking schools and health lectures. Adjacent to this restaurant, the Country Life Store draws as many as 1,000 customers per day. Three other health food stores, two smaller restaurants, and a natural cosmetics store make up the rest of Country Life’s city-centered ministry.
The outpost team brings people into the country six times a year for a lifestyle program. Country Life rents a motel in a quiet atmosphere, and guests spend eight days learning how to live better. More than 200 guests a year experience the ideal vegan diet, receive daily massages, attend cooking classes and lifestyle lectures, and soak up the fresh air while they take walks in the countryside. The team’s dream is to build a lifestyle center on the farm, where they can help people year-round. Country Life also provides various training courses. Through participation in missionary activities, involvement in its businesses, and the study of subjects connected to health and evangelism, they prepare people to be health missionaries.
Country Life works hand-in-hand with ADRA to help in various countries, which provides the students with a wealth of experience. The ministry reaches throughout the Czech Republic through various media. Its bimonthly magazine covers a wide range of topics on lifestyle and natural remedies. Country Life’s popular Web pages contain thousands of articles on health and lifestyle. In addition, they have been granted many opportunities to share the knowledge of health and nutrition on Czech Radio and TV.
