Fire Destroys Ministry

Devastation has not brought despair to Norma Nashed, of Reaching Hearts for Kids.

She was visiting her ministry’s orphan village in Ethiopia when her home and ministry headquarters was destroyed by fire on December 18. After spending Christmas with the children she has provided a home for, she rushed back Washington, D.C., to see what could be salvaged.

Very little was left. The records of all the children her ministry has helped since it began seven years ago were among the ashes. Her computers and equipment were charred.

Norma was shocked, but not disheartened. God has been blessing her ministry, and she knows that He is with her.

Already some good has come from the destruction. News stations aired her story, giving her ministry publicity and inviting people to help.

Reaching Hearts for Kids is building up a model orphan village in Ethiopia, and she will continue to visit and raise funds for the project. Already, an organization in Ethiopia has donated a $500,000 access road to the site, where they have constructed one home already. Donations have been given for two more homes, and the ministry is raising funds for the remaining seven homes, the school, clinic, and volunteer housing.
