When Bill Dull saw the skeletal beginnings of the house in Alabama, he immediately envisioned a small lifestyle center on the 70 acres of land. Stud walls were quickly rearranged, and when he returned to Living Springs Overseas Missions in India, he left a team working to complete the building. A year later, Don and Sheri Yohe offered to help check on progress when they could. Catching the vision, the Yohes soon moved to the property.
Although the center was not yet ready, they sprang into action, meeting their neighbors, doing different community service projects, holding health expos and cooking schools, and reaching out in other ways. Within a few months, they had organized a small church group, which meets every Sabbath at the lifestyle center. More than 20 people—some of whom are not yet Adventists—attend the church, and they are remodeling a pole barn on their property so that they can invite more people to church.
The 10-guest lifestyle center opened in 2010, and provides further opportunities for outreach. The small team is praying for additional dedicated staff members. They plan to open a missionary training center to round out their ministry. Courses will teach students practical skills like welding, construction, woodworking, gardening, and health evangelism, which will prepare them to be self-supporting missionaries in primitive areas of the world. Future plans also include an RV site on the large property, which will provide a refreshing atmosphere for vacationers and a small means of income for the ministry.
