Nuevo Horizonte is the headquarters for the OCI work in Latin America. Located on 100 acres of fertile agricultural land at 6000 feet elevation, it is just 14 kilometers from the city of Cartago and 25 kilometers from the capital city of San Jose.
The project is still in the developing stages, but is well on its way with some of the basic industries functioning to obtain the goal of being a self supporting lay missionary training institute.
At present we have a bakery supplying seven different health products including dried coconut, health candies, and granola that are sold door-to-door and to stores in different cities.
An extensive farm program is carried on with commercial crops of potatoes, beans, carrots, and corn. Smaller vegetable gardens are planted and local fruit from the orchard is sold in town.
Nuevo Horizonte's activities include an evangelistic program to establish a new church in the city of Cartago. Neighborhood evangelism and small Bible study groups are ongoing in the surrounding villages as personal projects.
