Since its beginning in 1983, Alekarr Fruitfarm (formely the Turning Point Foundation) has been dedicated to promoting mental and social development, Christian maturation, and organic agriculture.
They have used a variety of methods to accomplish this purpose: radio programs, various training courses, and therapeutic activities, among other things. A number of alcoholics, individuals from abusive homes, and refugees have stayed at the ministry, where they have found healing, safety, and hope for the future.
Alekarr Fruitfarm also began working with World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms in 2007. Since then, a number of guests have come to help in the farm's orchards. In addition to food and housing, the team has provided the volunteers with opportunities to receive Bible studies and have spiritual discussions. Most have joined the staff for morning devotions, as well.
The team is constantly seeking new ways of reaching out to their community and those who stay with them. In the postmodern Swedish culture, it can be a challenge to make the gospel seem relevant to people. Health is one of their biggest opportunities for outreach. In April 2010 they created a health box to send out to their community members. Each box contains organic foods, tips on how to live a healthy lifestyle, and an invitation to join the team for spiritual meetings. In addition to their farm, pear and apple juice production and a beekeeping industry help to support the ministry. They also plan to add a bakery and café to help expand their work.
For the team at Alekarr Fruitfarm, their deepest longing is to present the truth to those around them. God has led them thus far, and they look forward to seeing how He will continue to guide them in the future.
